Methodological advice and support

Iram provides demand-led methodological advice and support for a range of actors, covering different aspects of their interventions throughout the project cycle. The institute also helps define and implement public policies and strategies.

From diagnosis to recommendations

Iram provides advice to help groups and organisations weigh up the advantages and disadvantages of the possible options for achieving certain objectives. This is done using tools based on diagnosis and feasibility studies and by drawing on the knowledge, technical expertise and listening and facilitation skills of specialists in various fields.

The aim of our methodological support is to help the groups and organisations concerned work towards their objectives by identifying each stage of the process, suggesting which tools are needed to achieve the desired results, and monitoring and evaluating the ensuing activities and outcomes. In addition to theoretical skills, experts need a sound understanding of the contextual constraints and opportunities to ensure that this support is appropriate and effective, and the ability to instigate and guide collective reflection processes.

Expertise

Iram prepares diagnostic and feasibility studies based on market studies and agronomic, economic, financial and social analyses of the field or sector in question.

The institute also uses participatory processes in surveys and consultations with the different target groups concerned.

Proposals are backed up by financial and economic evaluations of the collective benefits likely to be generated by a development investment or action, and an examination of the institutional aspects to identify the most appropriate type of setup for the proposed intervention.

The institute uses similar methods when working on sectoral policy reforms. Here, the objective is to formulate proposals that reflect social compromise and are based on impact assessments so that actors and decision-makers can determine whether the proposed instruments and expected outcomes are consistent with the objectives of the political reform.
